3. June 14-15 & 21-22, starting at 8:30am, World Outdoor Racquetball hosts the Dave Conway Memorial Tournament on Holiday Park, in Ft Lauderdale. Multiple divisions, "Round-Robin" format. If you've never watched these guys play, get on out there to watch! They're awesome! You wanna play, you say? Click the link for a registration form!

4. Finally, Wally's Pro Shop online is now "live,"  offering your standard & "exotic" paddles, grips and wraps, gloves, Paddleball-themed t-shirts and accessories. As a convenience to customers, Wally's will now securely accept credit cards and PayPal and ship world-wide. I will have demo paddles for all local players to try before they buy- I have those even now- just drop me a quick email or see me on the Historic Courts weekday evenings. Stop by and check it out- and tell me what you think!
   
   

5. Using PayPal's turned into a boon for Wally's Pro Shop- cuz we can even accept payments for Killer B's Tee's and Sidespin paddles through this site's Wally's Pro Shop page- go see! Locals are encouraged to buy direct, of course. ;-)
   
   

6. The "Night-time Killer B's Doubles Series" has resumed. Match play will take place anytime teams which have not yet played their matches are present. Let's get 'em done and have ourselves a "Wrap-Up" party! 
   
   

7. Speaking of a long time coming, the Historic Courts have been open for about 3 weeks and I've been there with my camera quite often.  Check out my Flickr page for new pics. Just bookmark it- 'cuz that's where I'll be posting most pictures I'll take or be given. 13. New place to play: Dorsey Park in Miami. and finally, Flamingo Park, Miami! Just announced: another Angelo's 50+ Tournament.  And I finally completed the Paddle Maintenance & Repair page where I cover ways to protects, repair and put a Whattagrip Thin Overgrip on your expensive graphite paddle.  Construction of the Garfield Street Parking Garage's begun in full. 18.   Tony G was remembered by family and friends February 11, 2007 with a moment of silence and a bronze plaque. Read a little about his life, see the slide show of the pics I took to document the unveiling ceremony. Click the link and be there with us. RIP, Tony G.

21.   The end of one era, the start of another: Construction's begun on the Garfield Street Parking Garage and our favorite courts will never be the same. See the pics. 22.  I've posted a "profile page" in one of the coolest web sites out there- Handball City.me.com- Go see (hit browse), join (it's free!) create your own page, join the Big Yella Paddleball Group! It's like a "My Space" for us wall-sports geeks. Another profile page I've put up is at Yahoo 360. I just have too much fun with these things! And finally, go to Slideshows to see some I've created- the themes are paddleball and handball- of course!

25.   CPQ Cup Finals pics are up! I've posted some on the Historic Courts unofficial website but most (almost 300 of them!) are up in Yahoo Photos. Stop by the page to get to the link to the rest of the photos!   More? An All-Ladies "Big Blue" game on the "A" Court? I got the pics to prove it! November 11, 2006 .  Cravin' for a little paddleball aerobicise (yeah, I made the word up!) while in Ft Lauderdale? Holiday Park has 3 wall racquetball courts- but also a nice tennis practice wall down at the nearby tennis center.  If they'd only put some official tennis ball paddleball lines they'd be awesome courts! Check it out!  Ok, so it's not a feature- but I've got pics of that new "killer" paddle Wally's working on! Not a hole on it! See the paddle!! 26.   Remember the days of Spaldines, broomsticks and skinned knees? Angelo's 6th Annual Block Party brought it all back with their Stickball Tournament!  Along with all that excitement , the Garfield Street Handball guys held their "Warm-Up tournament" in preparation for the big CPQ Finals coming up, the Blue Ball Crew hung out and tennis balls were flyin'! 27.  Yeah, I love my paddleball- but I'll watch and play any wall-sport I can! Check out pics of the racquetball "Shootout" I attended in Ft. Lauderdale's Holiday Park. Thanks Angel!  Heads Up! 28. Mini-update, wth?  Handball's alive and well on the Historic Courts! See pics of a recent "Shoot-out" the guys had.  Mo' photos up- August 20, 2006.   Another one bites the dust! Save the Paddles!- really- this is sad stuff!  Hey- Just announced: Angelo's 6th Annual Block Party coming October 14, 2006! What was it like last year? 29.   Off-on-off again- CPQ pulls the plug on the July 29-30 Tournament. Yeah, of course I have comments! Peruvian paddleball? Read about it! Their version's called "Paleta Fronton" and it's almost a national obsession! I tried it (kind of) and I liked it and of course, here's my comments.   Coming soon: Exciting new paddles from The Paddle Company. Check 'em out! I also review their newest paddle- the Falcon Ti. It's a sweet stick!  New photos up! Check me out with a 'fro in 1976 and without in 2006! Right On, brother! And who's that kid in the pic 30 years later?  In the "More Places to Play" page, I visit a town of Central Islip, Long Island, N.Y. landmark, the Rec Center courts. 30.  Yep: The June 10-11 Qualifier tournament was cancelled and I get my 2 cents in about it. But just because the show on Hollywood Beach was cancelled doesn't mean there wasn't other wall-sports action to be found around South Florida. Check the Other Events section of this site to see coverage of the CPQ Handball Qualifier III that took place June 3, 2006 at Flamingo Park and pics of a NYC-vs-Miami handball players on a fronton. Even a bit of "Cuban Paddleball" was played! A few new pics up! Various shots, hangin' out on the Courts.
    
    

31.  There I go again, off on tangents! This time in the Other Events section of this site, I cover the "new" sport of Frontenis. I saw my second tournament and it was good! 35.   Hey- What's got bunch of 50+ year old guys all playing for some free stuff? Click here to find out!  Paleta Fronton players on the Historic Courts? We had a couple come to visit and try our paddleball- and it showed they had a good time!   Blue's Clues my foot! The Big Blue doubles tournament at Flamingo Park was what brought players from as far away as Puerto Rico!  Me and my cam again: Who were those people playing on the Historic Courts that sunny Sunday? Go see the pics! Extreme Makeover, Historic Courts edition? Could it be? Hmmm... This may be old news by the time you read it but there it is! My usual 2 cents! And finally- (yeah, I've been busy!) "Road Tennis-" all the rage with the boys on Madison Street! Check it out!

37.   Fans of paddleball are fans no matter what version of the sport they're watching! and February 11, it was "black-ball" they were watching at the USPA South Eastern Nationals Doubles tournament- on the  Flamingo Park paddleball courts in Miami Beach. 42.  I scoped out a "new" sport- Frontenis- and of course I was there with my trusty digi-cam to document it! Played with a tennis ball, tennis racquet and on a 3-wall court, the action's hot and furious and there are  no kills! Check it out! I'm thinking of gettin' me a tennis racquet! 46.  "Kudos!!" page- Recently, vandals defiled our Historic Courts and as rumor has it, a certain Historic Courts "Regular" took it upon himself to paint over all the tags the miscreants dumped on us. Way to go, Unknown Guy! This page's for YOU! Also- have you been to the Courts lately? We got lights in the back courts again! See the newly updated "You're Being Served" page for details! And that "saggy fence action" we had going on? It's been repaired! 47. WOOO HOOOO!!!   Scheduled for  Saturday and Sunday January 14-15, 2006 is the WOOOW!! II tournament. Eliminations are Saturday and Finals Sunday and players the all over the U.S. and the world over are being invited. $12,000 will be up for grabs!  Click  WOOOW!! II  for more information. Be there or be square! Top 4 teams go on to qualify for the big 'un for $25k in December, 2006. What'chu talkin' 'bout, Willis? The 2006 WOOOW!! events are gonna be big band are gonna snowball. 50. Welcome to the "MEGA-UPDATED" Historic Courts unofficial web-site! Mega cuz this latest update covers all kinds of stuff!!   WOOOW!! is right!!! The World Open Outdoors One Wall Doubles Paddleball Tournament (WOOOW!! for short) was one event that lived up to its hype! Summer waned away but not before leaving Katrina and her cousin, Wilma to come for a fall visit! They messed up SE FL and the Beach but the regulars still prevailed! Go see photographic proof! Check out the "new" sport I discovered to pass the time during those long no-electric afternoons after Wilma hit-  "Road Tennis!" and it's tons of fun! Ping-Pong without a table! Go figure! The plans for our favorite area of the Beach have been re-thought, with a little help from Wally and other concerned citizens-  Check out the new improved plans!  Hey!  Wally's got Email and he's gettin' busy with it! Go to his  V.O.I.C.E. page to see him "going off" with it! What a word-smith! Handball? That precursor (for many of us paddleball players) to our sport's alive and well! See coverage of the $25K CQPHPA invitational tournament.  Whattaya do when you played a tournament the day before and still have more handball in you? And while away on the road in California and Clearwater, FL,  I looked for places to play or practice and found a couple- and another most unexpected-but-cool way to practice and work up a sweat. (WOOOW !!) to take place on the Historic Courts, November 5th & 6th (6th, if needed). A generous sponsor has stepped forward to provide the purse for this event and by all indications it's going to be a doozy. 54. Just thinking of what could be- I took a quick trip to PR. and found some courts to practice on. Of course I had my trusty cam and snapped off some pics! 58. If you've visited these pages recently, you may have noticed the Guest Book page just freakin' out! That's all a result of my battle against Spam-bots. The contents of the old guest book aren't affected- but one can't add to the log as one used to- I can't leave the form open on the web without it getting spammed again. Find the new Guest Book here. 62. Oh yeah!! March 12^th & 13^th, regulars and guests celebrated the Historic Courts' 75^th Anniversary. There was music, contests and cake for all and even dragons! Yep- see pics galore of Day 1 and Day 2- the day of the Garfield Street All-Stars Tournament. Another case where you're gonna need patience- these pages have lots of pics! Comments?
