Hurricane Katrina

In retrospect, Katrina really didn't treat us so badly- yet her effects seem to have taken us "storm-savvy" South Floridians by surprise.

We've category 2's and 3's roar through and we barely flinched- so what was a barely-a-category 1 storm gonna do to us? Well, as many of us found out more than expected- and as I said, in retrospect much less than she could have. Our favorite place to hang out, though a bit sandy and rubbish-strewn- is still standing and still working its magic on all who visit. Below are thumbnails of pics I took the day after Katrina blew through. Surf Road, looking north.

Die-Hards surveying the damage.   Looks normal, huh? But there was sand all over the place!  What'd I say about sand? Break out the shovels, wheel-barrows and brooms.!

This awning should have been dismatled for the storm. It was not and it flew big time and finally hit...  this car. No laughing matter, I'm sure!
